Hair Transplantation: What You Should Know
A mop of hair can do more than just increase your confidence. It can make you look and feel great.
Here are some things that you need to keep in mind before undergoing a transplant process:
- In men, the most common condition involves hair loss in certain regions of the head, whereas other regions have hair growth and remain normal.
- In such cases, follicles are taken from the areas where balding hasn’t occurred and are implanted in the region of the head where there is thinking of hair to give the head a fuller appearance when it comes to hair.
- In some cases, men are sensitive to hair transplants. In such cases, the hormones produced by their body will trigger loss of the transplanted hair.
- In such a case, the surgeon will prescribe finasteride or other similar medications to control the hair fall of the implanted hair.
- Hair transplantation can cause scarring. These very small scars are caused at the site where the follicles are removed. While the pain from these scars resolves in a few days post-implantation, in some people the scars can remain for long.
- While a mop of thick hair can cover these scars, shaving the scalp can expose these scars and result in some irritation as the new hair grows out of the follicles.
- If you already have considerable hair loss, the transplant may not be as effective as it would have been if you got treated in the early stages of hair loss.
No matter what, adding volume to your hair can make you feel better in your own skin. Consult your dermatologist to determine what you can do for your hair growth.
